Our Story

In 1984, the love of the Lord moved a group of people to plant a new church in Newton County that would be Bible-centered, relationship-oriented, and strongly committed to the preaching of the Gospel of Grace. We recognized that true righteousness is only found by faith in Christ alone and that the greatest need of individuals and the community is met in knowing Him. As one early visitor commented, “Trinity Presbyterian Church is a body of believers who do not just want to go to church, but want to be the church, to be grow in their relationship to the Lord.” That desire to grow in a personal relationship with our heavenly Father was what motivated us in our worship of God and in our service to the community in the beginning. It is what still motivates us today.

 

Part of what makes Trinity Presbyterian Church distinctive is that we are a connectional church, part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). The PCA is strongly committed to the Bible as our only rule for faith and life and to the truth of salvation as the free gift of God’s grace. The PCA is extensively involved in furthering God’s kingdom through world missions.

 

As a local congregation of the PCA, we continue to be strongly committed to reaching and serving Newton County. We long to grow in knowing and enjoying the love of God for us in Christ, and extending that same love far and wide that others may enjoy being His as well. Our desire is to call those who do not yet know God to a saving relationship with Him through Christ Jesus our Lord. For those who already know Him, we want to help them grow in that relationship, finding in Him all that they need for this world and for eternal life. We believe that such a relationship will be a blessing not only to the individuals who enjoy it, but to all of Newton County.
